Hi, i'm Henry!

Programmer, science nerd, "cool" dad & founder of Smartsie! As a father of two boys with hungry minds, I wanted to build a platform that can provide the tools they require to understand the world around them, understand themselves, and maybe even unravel the secrets of the universe some day.

I believe in learning through play. Curiosity needs to be nurtured, and that's Smartsie's mission - Support young thinkers and makers by providing the breadcrumbs and stepping stones to big discoveries.

Curiosity is king. STEM is the keys to the castle.

Nothing excites me more than planting a seed and seeing what grows. I've never been a fan of structured curriculum or teaching my kids from text books. Instead, i'd bring home a chess board or a rubiks cube. Maybe i'll just happen to be watching videos about the universe when they're around... Eventually something catches their attention. That gives me clues into their interests, and that's when the experiments, competitions and gamification of learning can come into play.

Before you know it they're reciting all the planets in the Solar system and memorising speed cubing algorithms. None of it should be forced. It's like scattering crumbs of smart stuff and letting them find their own path.

I think they'll always remember learning as fun that way. The "ah-ha!" moments and the discoveries...

Every child will wander their own journey in STEM and discover what they love and don't love. Smartsie is here to put the bowling bumpers up, and provide parents and carers with the tools they need to help every child succeed.
